482nd F.I.S.:

Lt. William S. Piper

(Feb. 1958)

Lt. Piper arrived about July of 1958 with the first batch of new F-102 trainees and was assigned to Capt. Ingall's flight. He left on his birthday (March 12) in 1959 to GCI. He was one of the "good" officers...intelligent, stuck to his job, and tried to be as pleasant as possible. He stayed with the AF for 8 years and then became a gentleman pilot for Braniff, Piedmont, and U.S. Airways, retiring in 1995. During that time he lived with his family in Dallas, Texas. After retirement, they relocated to Valdosta, GA, and then 18 miles south to Jennings, FL.

Bill attended the 2005 Reunion and it was a pleasure to see him again, especially looking great. He has been a big help with this web site and has our sincere appreciation and best wishes.
