482nd F.I.S.:

Weapons Load Crew of the Month Award

Goldsboro News-Argus - June 5, 1964:
"LOADING CREW . . . Lt. Col. George R. Halliwell, left, 482nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron commander, tells A1C William B. Murray, A2C Jessie G. Badgett, and SSgt Harold M. Pearce that they've just earned a three day pass for being selected as the squadron's weapons loading crew of the month recently." U S AIR FORCE PHOTO

Harold Pearce adds, "The paper we are holding is a certification for Weapons Loading Crew of the month."

Bill Murray recalls, "In my days at the 482nd, it seems that Weapons was always short of help, so they used some of the Radar types to assist with the missile load outs when ever we went on alert and did a mass upload of the birds. Sgt Pearce and Jessie Badgett were Weapons types, and I was Radar. The way the crews were assigned, if you were A1C or below, you were assigned to a team with a Weapons NCO "load crew chief" and a Weapons Airman. The Radar NCOs that were on load crews, were assigned to teams with two Weapons Airmen."
