ORGANIZATIONAL MAN OF THE MONTH . . . A/1C Ronald E. Gaffney, a crew chief assigned to the 482nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron here, is shown installing a drag chute in the tail section of his aircraft prior to flight. The drag chute is used as a braking aid in stopping the high speed F-102 fighter interceptor during landing. This is one of the many tasks Airman Gaffney must perform on his aircraft before every flight to ensure that it can be accomplish its air defense mission and return to base safely. 482d FIS Airman Maintenance Man Of The Month

A/1C Rodney E. Gaffney, assigned to the 482d Fighter Interceptor Squadron, was selected as "Organizational Maintenenace Man of the Month" for August. This is a competitive award presented to the most deserving airman on the basis of his job performance, military bearing, and behavior. Airman Gaffney has demonstrated these qualities in a highly exemplary manner.

The awarding committee singled out Airman Gaffney after analyzing his military record, the reports of his superiors, and his conduct before the committee. Airman Gaffney is now eligible to compete for the squadron's coveted "Airman of the Quarter Award."
