A memorial service for Oliver J. Zink, an expert in criminal personality profiling for the FBI, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, 5453 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg.
Mr. Zink, 67, died of colon cancer Thursday in his Eden home. Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Bennett High School and earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Colgate University in 1959. Soon thereafter, he joined the Air Force, where he maintained missiles.
As an FBI special agent for 20 years, he lived throughout the country. He investigated bank robberies and white-collar crime and headed the FBI's SWAT team after he returned to Buffalo in 1977.
He was also a criminal personality profiler and lectured on the subject for three years at Genesee Community College.
He also worked as a security coordinator for M&T Bank and as a security officer at the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.
"He lived such an interesting life and experienced things most people would never understand," said Joanne Zink of Eden, his former wife.
Survivors also include a daughter, Kelly Storey of Hamburg; a son, Scott of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Carole Waterman of Delaware, Ohio; a brother, John of Bunnell, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
