I really liked Sgt. Wilson. He was a serious and intellectual man but not as stern as the image appears. The photo is scanned from a 1x1.5 inch security badge photo...it was the only photo of himself that he had to give me when he left in late 1958 or early 1959 for another assignment (I remember overseas but...). In the days before the F-102s arrived when we were all setting up, Corwin took some packing crates and made a desk for his room, mahogany stained with a couple drawers. Before he left, Corwin willed the desk to me, along with a desk lamp. When I left, in turn, I said goodbye to the desk but took the lamp which I still use daily. I've always suspected that the desk still has a barracks life of its own at Seymour Johnson. A little something left behind.
