Edward S. White


Edward S. White, 66, formerly of Canton, passed away March 28, 1995 at Akron General Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Canton, and had lived in this community for 28 years. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 20 years, last working in 1989. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Usher of the Church, V. P. Local Union 148, National Association of Letter Carriers, Little League Baseball Coach, MBA of the Postal Union, and N.A.R.F.E. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War, where he retired as a master sergeant.

He is survived by wife, Florastean White; sons, Jeffrey White and Steven White, all of Akron; daughter, Patricia (Phil) White-Manley; grandchild, Jordan Edward Manley, all of Ellicott, Maryland; godchild, Anthony Lockhart Jr.; sisters, Shirley Smith and Doris (Roosevelt) Norris, all of Akron; three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Pastor Arthur E. Kemp officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stewart & Calhoun Chapel on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 904 Hartford Ave.
