Walters - George W. Walters, a retired Air Force sergeant, died Thursday at Humana Hospital of an aneurysm. He was 67. Mr. Walters was born in Paducah, Ky., and lived in New Orleans for many years. He served In World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and received two Purple Hearts, the Prisoner of War medal, and the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Favrot Walters; his mother, Josephine Walters; a daughter, Cheryl W. Bursaw; three brothers, Louis, Raymond A., and Joe Walters; two sisters, Irene Rankin and Verna Waits; and a grandchild.
A funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Tharp-Sontheimer-Laudumiey Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Highway. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette.
