RAYMOND D. VOGEL


Raymond Duane Vogel, of Clinton, died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at his home. He was born at Clinton on May 12, 1925. He first married Barbara Garnett at Clinton. He later married Dorthea B. Kummerow Burlingame in 1972 at Sterling, Ill. She died August 20, 2001. He retired in 1969 from the U.S. Air Force, with the rank of sergeant major, after serving 27 years. He was a POW in Germany during World War II.

Survivors include a son, David Vogel of Gahanna, Ohio; four daughters, Linda Mellonbach, Albany, N.Y., Pam Cronburger and Patty Shearer, both of Toledo, Ohio, and Mary Beth Hall, Cincinnati, Ohio; a step-daughter, Janice Wallace, Quincy; a step-son, Larry Burlingame, Davenport; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sisters, Marion Pettit, Tucson, Ariz., and Donna Hartman, Annandale, Va.; and brothers, Kenneth Vogel and Don Werner, both of Clinton, William Langham, Tucson, Ariz., and John Werner Jr., Norwalk, Calif.

Services for Mr. Vogel will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Heesch funeral home, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military services by Clinton AMVETS. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the Clinton Visiting Nursing Association.
