Edgar Eugene Thacker, age 76 of Mountain Home passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1931 in Mountain Home to the late Burney Earl "Bird" and Edna Florence (Beaver) Thacker.
Mr. Thacker married Wana Lucille Gaul on August 5, 1995 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He was retired from the United States Air Force. During his career in the Air Force, he served during the Korean and Vietnam War, receiving the Bronze Star and Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Retired Military Club and the Elks Club.
Mr. Thacker is survived by his wife: Wana Thacker of the home, a daughter: Edna C. Zorilla and husband Rene and a son: Gregory E. Thacker and wife Susan of Arizona, step-daughters: Cindy Taylor and husband David of McRae, Arkansas, Sonia Nelson and husband Roy of Clarkridge, Arkansas, Roxann Apjohn and husband Ray of Ward, Arkansas and Thoma Roseberry of Charleston, South Carolina, a brother: Earl “Jack” Thacker Jr. of Clarkridge, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, seven step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: David W. Thacker, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain Home with the Reverend Dr. Fred Taylor officiating. A visitation will be Tuesday from Noon - 9:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Roller Funeral Home. Interment will be in Thacker Cemetery on County Road 479.
