Dolton R. "Sully" Sullivan, Jr.


Dolton R. "Sully" Sullivan, Jr., 72, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born September 22, 1935 in Bethel, NC, to the late Dolton & Velma (Jackson) Sullivan, Sr.

Sully served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 30 years and retired from Tinker AFB after 20 years of civil service as lead logistics analyst with the advanced cruise missile program. Sully was an avid OU fan and enjoyed writing humorous stories, drawing characters, and spending time with his beloved black lab, "Beau." He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all that knew him.

Mr. Sullivan and Miss Marilyn Puett, who survives, were married on June 15, 1957 in Oklahoma City. He is survived by one son, Michael Sean Sullivan and wife Tracy of Minot AFB, North Dakota; one daughter, Kristen Maureen Perkins and husband David of Moore, OK; one brother, Thomas Ray Sullivan and wife Carol of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Barbara Woods of Greenville, NC; four grandsons, Mark Allen Perkins, Bret Michael Sullivan, Brady Sean Sullivan and Jordan Taylor Perkins; an aunt, Lorena Vincent; and many other relatives in North Carolina.

He was preceded in death one son, Michael Patrick; one daughter, Sheila Maureen; one grandson, Brice Kerrick Sullivan; and a brother-in-law, Jim Woods.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the medical staff of Midwest Regional Hospital, Specialty Hospital of Midwest City, and OU Medical Center Presbyterian Tower for their care and friendship throughout Sully’s long battle.
