Harold "Bubba" Parrish


ROCKWELL - Harold "Bubba " Eugene Parrish, 76, of Rockwell, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born Sept. 11, 1930, in Salisbury, Mr. Parrish was the son of the late Herman Calvin Parrish and Lillie Juanita Parrish.

Mr. Parrish was educated in the Rowan County Schools. He served in the U.S. Military for 20 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and fighting in the Korean War. He served nine years as a Marine and 11 years with the U.S. Air Force before being honorably discharged.

Mr. Parrish later worked for 15 years at both, Winn-Dixie and W.A. Brown. He worked with the Food Pantry and was a driver for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Parrish was also a life-long member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served as an usher.

Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by brothers William Parrish, Robert Parrish and Herman "Jr." Parrish, all of Salisbury; and sister Norma Parker of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Bailey Parrish of Salisbury; sons Michael Parrish of Kannapolis and Gary Parrish and wife Tracy of Rockwell; and grandchildren Brandon Parrish, Kristin Parrish, Wesley Parrish and Brittany Parrish.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Rector Whayne M. Hougland Jr. officiating. Burial with honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force, Pope AFB, will follow at 1 p.m. at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location.

Visitation will be held tonight from 7-8:30 at Summersett Funeral Home.
