Basil Theodore Paris

Basil Theodore Paris died November 3, 2006, from complications caused from Alzheimer's disease that destroyed his mind, but not his heart and kind, gentle spirit. Basil was born March 15, 1928, and grew up in Rocky Mount, NC. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring, he went to work for Sears as Parts Department manager. He was also owner and manager of Wright Mobile Home Park in Fort Walton Beach. Along with other duties in the Air Force, he was the leader of the Honor Guard at Reese and at Eglin AFB.

Mr. Paris was preceded in death by his first wife, Jimmie Nadine, on March 22, 1989. He is survived by his second wife, WreaFaye, and her three children, Thomas [Patricia] Nieft, Charlisa Danelius, and Michael [Michele] Nieft; a brother, Melvin [Becky] Paris of Rocky Mount, NC; and two sisters, Isabelle [Billy] Donaldson and Sonja [Pete] Adcox. He also leaves a step-daughter, Patsy [Al] Belcher, from his first marriage; eight grandchildren, Richard Chandler, Basil Lynn Belcher, Katie Nieft, Kyle Nieft, Christopher Nieft, Jocelyn Nieft, Bailey Danelius, and Lauren Daneliusl and one greatgrandchild, Brook Nadine Chandler. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Bud Swazy of Shreveport, LA, who was his hunting and fishing buddy.

Basil earned many awards, commendations, certificates, and honors during his lifetime. He loved traveling, cruising, music, dancing, and people (especially children).

The viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6. Services will be at noon Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Fort Walton Beach, FL. He will be laid to rest, with full military honors, next to his first wife, Jimmie Nadine, at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Ft. Walton Beach.
