Graveside services for Peter D. O'Neill, 53, a retired Air Force colonel, will be Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery.
Col. O'Neill, who lived in Hialeah from 1937 until his retirement from the Air Force in 1970, died Friday in the University of South Carolina Medical Center, Charleston.
A native of Mount Kisco, N.Y., he graduated from Edison Senior High School and the University of Florida. He resigned his Army commission during the Korean War and enlisted in the Air Force.
During the Vietnam War, he flew 100 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit.
He was a member of the Dadaelian Society.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Jackson O'Neill; daughters, Bridget Schmidt and Erin O'Neill; sons, Patrick D. and Brian P.; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. O'Neill of Hialeah.
