DONALD H. KIRKMAN


DUDLEY --- Retired U.S. Air Force TSgt. Donald Hugh Kirkman, 70, of 118 Woodland Acres Ave., died Thursday at his home.

Born in Taylorsville, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis and Bessie Combs Kirkman. Employed with Hevi-Duty, he was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 27 years of service and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Chapter 45 of the Disabled American Veterans of Wayne County.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Daughtry and Rudolph Potter officating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Kirkman of Goldsboro and Steven D. Kirkman of Raleigh; a daughter, Christine "Chris" K. Karr of Raleigh; two brothers, Bill Kirkman of Tucker, Ga., and Ray Kirkman of Taylorsville; a sister, Betty K. Mahaffey of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the DAV of Wayne County, Chapter 45, 112 N. Patrick St., Goldsboro, 27530.

Family members will receive friends from 7 to 9 at Schmate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Robert and Kathy Kirkman, 1901 Palm St.
