George C. Kassmann, 63, of Cheektowaga, a career airman and retired civilian technician at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base, died Monday (April 19, 1999) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, he served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1968 and in the Air National Guard from 1968 to 1989. He was a civilian technician at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base from 1972 to 1989.
He enjoyed computers, photography, fishing and bowling.
He and the former Sylvia Schupp were married in 1974.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Harold Oedbauer of Clarence Center; a daughter, Patricia Rackl of Clarence Center; two brothers, Eugene of Medina and Robert of Rochester; a sister, Shirley Brakefield of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5337 Genesee St., Bowmansville, with prayers at 8:15 in Amigone Funeral Home, 6050 Transit Road, Depew. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bowmansville.
