Garvas Dean Jones, Sr., 73, of Jemison died Sunday, Aug. 19, at his residence.
He was born Saturday, Oct. 28, 1933, in Chilton County, son of the late William Luther Jones and the late Ruby Williams Jones. He was a security guard.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones of Jemison; three daughters, Theresa Sellers of Woodstock, Rebecca Martin of Warrior and Adele Nelson of Montevallo; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and sister, Cecilia Lowery of Jemison.
He was preceded in death by his son, Garvas Dean Jones, Jr. and his brother, John William Jones. Friends will be received today at Martin Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Union Grove Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Johnny Bowman and the Rev. Matt Hilyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Refuge Baptist Cemetery.
