Harvey DeWitt Johnson, 77, of the 900 block of Dearing St., died Dec. 6, 1999, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Maryann Johnson for 42 years.
Mr. Johnson was born May 11, 1922, in Lynchburg, the son of the late Rennie Johnson and the late Leatha Parson Johnson. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dane Crockett of Florida, David Johnson of Suffolk and Daniel Johnson of Boones Mill; sisters, Emma Rogers of Indiana, Elsie Sawyers, Frances Jelinek and Doris Brown, all of Norfolk, and Margaret Evans of Virginia Beach; a brother, Bobby Johnson of Virginia Beach; and granddaughters, Joy Crockett, Bethany Nicole Johnson, Lisa Marie Johnson, Jennifer Paige Johnson and Elisabeth Anne Johnson. He was predeceased by a sister, Hallie ''Jenny'' Harper, and a brother, John R. ''Sonny'' Johnson.
