Reynold Sherrel Jernigan, 65, of 1444 Hwy 13 South, died Sunday at home. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. George Fox officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Jernigan was born in Wayne County on November 26, 1933, and was the son of the late Joe and Clyda Britt Jernigan. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and retired from Carolina Power & Light Company, Lee plant, in Goldsboro. He was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church and the Men'sII Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Wayne Classic Masonic Lodge #112, was a 32nd degree Mason, was a member of of the Scottish Rites and York Rites, and was a Sudan Shriner.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hollamon Jernigan; son and daughter-in-law, Reynold and Peggy Jernigan of Lumberton; daughter and son-in-law, Loreice Jernigan and Jeff Walter of Wake Forest; brothers, Cliff Jernigan of Tampa, Fla., and Lyndon Jernigan of Durham; sisters, Pansy Smith and Helen Gaulden of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Wendy Jernigan and Lisa Jernigan.
He was preceded in death by sisters Ester Jackson and Julia Pope, and brothers Clarence Jernigan, Claude Jernigan, and Joe Jernigan.
The family will greet friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
