GERALD I. JAMISON


WALNUT COVE - Mr. Gerald I. Jamison, 73, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

He was born March 31, 1933, in Spring Mills, Pa., to Miller E. and Irene Greenwalt Jamison.

Mr. Jamison was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an active member of Walnut Cove Masonic Lodge AF&AM 629 and a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed his time at Salem Chapel Christian Church and owned and operated a business in Walnut Cove. His hobbies included cooking, gardening, telling jokes, philosophy and playing with his beloved dog, Buddy. He was a good husband, father and stepfather, always willing to take time to listen to everyone.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Coffee Jamison, of the home; two sons, Patrick (Terry) Jamison of Pfafftown and Richard (Michelle) Jamison of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Stacey (David) Thrift of Fort Smith, Ark., and Nancy Jamison of Concord; three grandsons, Benjamin (Josianna) Jamison of Richmond; Justin Thrift of Fort Smith, Ark.; and Bryce Jamison of Concord; two granddaughters, Christine Thrift of Fort Smith and Jennifer Jamison of Richmond; a brother, Lee (Connie) Jamison of Minneapolis, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Pamela (Dennis) Minton of Elkin and Kimberly (Edwin) Gale of Connelly Springs; four stepgrandchildren, Brandon (Melissa) Pyrtle, Joseph Pyrtle, Rena Pyrtle and Garrett Gale; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Turner Pyrtle. Mr. Jamison was a loving dad, grandfather and great-grandfather to a special extended family, which he loved very much and that includes Jimmy (Jo) Sturgill and family of Greenville, S.C.; Teresa (Jim) Goss and family of Columbus, Ohio; Ricky (Patty) Sturgill and family of Richmond; Mark (Shirly) Sturgill and family of Walnut Cove; Melanie (Will) Wright and family of Greenville, S.C.; and the late Linda (Rick) Blazer.

An 11 a.m. memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Salem Chapel Christian Church in Walnut Cove, with the Rev. Larry Neal officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 5, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove, and other times at the home in Pfafftown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to Salem Chapel Christian Church, P.O. Box 1085, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
