MURPHY - Willard Robert "Bill" Hartness, 81, of Hill Street, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in Murphy Medical Center. No funeral services are planned. Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Willard Robert "Bill" Hartness, 81, of Hill Street, Murphy died Monday, February 18, 2002, at Murphy Medical Center. A native of Cherokee County, he was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He had also retired from Industrial Distribution in Canton, North Carolina. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canton. He was the son of the late Robert and Eva Panther Hartness.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Hartness of Blairsville, Georgia, and Roddie Hartness of Canton; two brothers, Johnny C. Hartness and Jerry W. Hartness, both of Murphy; three sisters, Lois Taylor of Murphy, Reeda Mae Long Buford, South Carolina, and Bonnie Holder of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
