Raymond Eberlein


Raymond S. "Sid'' Eberlein, a salesman since 1983 with a wholesale pool distributor, died Monday after a lengthy battle with melanoma cancer.

A lifelong resident of Mobile, Eberlein had worked for Sears for 14 years. The 1962 graduate of Murphy High School attended the University of North Carolina and the University of South Alabama.

He was known for his interest in and restoration of 1953-to 1970-model Corvettes.

Eberlein was a member of the Mobile Jaycees and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. He was voted boss of the year by DECA classes in Mississippi. He taught Sunday school classes at Cottage Hill Baptist Church and motivational classes at a junior college in Ocean Springs, Miss. Eberlein was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Whitehead Eberlein; a daughter, Erica Eberlein Dana; his mother, Emily Schmitz Eberlein; a brother, James Weyburn Eberlein Jr.; and a sister, Emily Arnold.

Services are set for noon today at Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
