I stopped by to see Bill on my way to DC. He hasn't moved too far...just across the James River to Suffolk where he owns waterfront property and is currently engaged in building a boat dock. In a couple hours; we messed with Bill's computer, took a tour of his lovely property, met his three dogs, talked family with his delightful wife, had supper, and watched the Preakness.
Bill showed me three of his marathon medals (26 miles) and wants to compete in ten marathons in different states, which brings a special award. (How many of us are running marathons? That's what I thought.) Bill is retired from a management job in the Newport News ship building industry.
Bill gave me his copy of the 1957 yearbook after I mentioned I had seen same at the the reunion. That was a major contribution in the effort to find the men of the first three years, and I am most grateful for Bill's kindness.
