"We went to Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico, to escort J.F.K. to South America and back. I remember a lot of brass watching the turn arounds. Nothing was by the book...we fueled, put liquid oxygen in, & replaced drag chutes...all while the aircraft was still running. It was only a few minutes and they were back in the air. One plane at a time on the ground. Air Force 1 & 2 were both in the air, so no one could tell which plane the President was in."
