482nd F.I.S.:

Bill Plemmons October 1958: Oceana NAS

A/2C William C. Plemmons
MG-10 radar mechanic
Lt. Col. Thomas's team

I phoned Bill a couple years back...connected to his wife. She said that he was out mowing the grass. I told her not to bother him as I would call back later...but I never did. He's still in the Norfolk area, living on property that fronts the James River in Suffolk.

Bill, along with Paul Wagner, Nick Luzie, Don Weiser, John Thrush, Curtis Nord, and myself had spent 40 weeks together at MG-10 radar school at Lowry AFB before coming to the 482nd at Seymour Johnson AFB. We were real early, having a choice of two bases...the other was in Washington state. As I recall our class divided in half...those west of the Mississippi took Washington and the rest of us headed for North Carolina with a lot of apprehension...except for Bill who was almost home.

Bill Plemmons was different...but a straight arrow.
